January 2012 - MOVING Forward Together!
”I have a dream that one day ……..” Martin Luther King Jr.
Considering the time of year we thought what would be more appropriate than ”having a dream …..” Exercising has enabled you to improve your quality of life starting 2012 a healthier you. Take a moment to consider ”a dream” that will keep you on this pathway. (if you would like to share your dream with our community please e-mail Michelle at movetheantigym.com )
No matter what your ”dream”, making a conscious choice to change a part of your life is incredibly empowering and yes at the same time challenging. Don’t forget to take pleasure in the process. For those of us who can find some way to integrate the spirit of self-care into our lives stand to benefit from it and when we do so do those around us.
In the annual stampede to set ”New Years resolutions” we naturally look at what is wrong in our lives. Any of these sound familiar, loose weight, get in shape, improve finances, stop smoking, reduce stress, find a better job, get organized, etc……… not an inspiring list to contemplate. Stay focused on what gives you a sense of purpose, giving you the energy and equanimity you need to do things that really matter.
Start with something very doable, something you can do today – like drinking and extra glass of water or eating some fresh vegetables or getting some extra activity can be a good place to start. With that focus and commitment you don’t get distracted. Feel your success and then do something else. Continue down this path for a couple of weeks and soon your entire life will feel different.
We invite you to consider areas in your life that might be calling for exploration. Once a month pick at least one routine and mix it up, make a healthy dish you have never tried, take an exercise class you have never taken, follow a path you have never explored, engage your partner or family in an activity you have never experienced, make an effort to understand an unfamiliar point of view, do something that makes you just a little bit uncomfortable.
Aristotle tells us ”We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then , is not an act, but a habit.” It is important to establish a habit of stretching your own comfort zones and in doing so accomplishing the challenges you set for yourself and inviting those around you to do the same. Creating a culture of growth and success. Expect resistance and greet it with excitement. That is your opportunity for growth.
As a New Year lies ahead this is a great time for us to express our appreciation for what is, for all that has been, and for the happiness available to us in each passing and present moment.
Have the intension of training at your best with purpose and commitment and we promise we will give it with you.
